Richmond River Health Seminar

Community event

6.00pm Wednesday 26 July 2017

Community members are invited to attend an information session on Wednesday 26 July about the health of the Richmond River with Dr Sarah Mika and Dr Ben Vincent from the University of New England (UNE).

The session will be held at Ballina Surf Club at 6.00pm and will provide a detailed presentation from Dr Mika and Dr Vincent on the results of their 2014 Ecohealth Report for the Richmond River, which graded the river health a D - (poor).

“The University of New England have been looking at various river catchments over the past six years, using the same investigation framework to classify river health,” said Dr Mika.

“This event will give the community an opportunity to learn more about the diverse environmental factors affecting the health of the Richmond River,” explained Dr Mika.

The presentation will also explore what the scores mean in particular catchments, focusing on the results gathered from within Ballina Shire.

All community members are welcome, however seats are limited. Please RSVP either on 6686 1210 or email dehg@ballina.nsw.gov.au to secure your place.
