Sustainable House Day 2017

Since 2016, Ballina Shire Council has been a partner of the regional Sustainable House Day Collaboration.

Sustainable House Day is an Australia-wide initiative which gives visitors a chance to inspect firsthand houses that have been designed, built or renovated with sustainability in mind.  Homeowners are available at their own sustainable home to showcase their work in reducing environmental impact whilst living comfortably, as well as providing unbiased advice about how this has worked for them.

Since 2014, the Northern Rivers Regional Sustainable House Day Collaboration has hosted a Sustainable House Day Design Competition.  This year the focus is on ‘Build it Local’ and designs are invited from residents, architects, designers and young people in the Northern Rivers.
