Heritage Advice

Council Officers are available to discuss the care and maintenance of heritage items and buildings, heritage grants and development assessment in cases where the development involves a heritage item or is within the vicinity of heritage listed items or places.

In some cases, staff may recommend further contact with specialist heritage consultants, local heritage groups or government agencies, depending on the circumstances.

Council understands the changing function of many historic buildings and seeks to apply heritage conservation guidelines with flexibility to enable the adaptation of historic buildings to meet contemporary needs whilst maintaining heritage significance.

Heritage Publications - understanding heritage listings and conserving heritage items and places

The NSW Heritage Branch has published a vast array of free publications and guidelines to help understand heritage listing and how to undertake heritage conservation work.
