Upcoming Public Programs at NRCG
Published on 13 February 2026
The Northern Rivers Community Gallery (NRCG) will present a diverse program of free and ticketed public events from February to April, offering audiences the opportunity to engage more deeply with the work of exhibiting artists. Delivered across the Gallery and Ignite Studios creative precinct, the program includes artist talks and hands-on workshops spanning painting, mixed media, zine-making and experimental creative practices.
Gallery Coordinator Imbi Davidson said the upcoming program highlights NRCG’s commitment to creative exchange, experimentation and community participation.
“NRCG’s upcoming public programs offer meaningful opportunities for audiences to connect directly with the ideas, processes and practices of our exhibiting artists,” Davidson said. “From hands-on workshops to in-depth artist talks, these programs explore new ways of thinking, making and engaging with contemporary art within a welcoming and accessible community setting.”
Commencing on 21 February with a free artist talk by visual artist, curator and ritual practitioner Linsey Gosper, in conversation with Gallery Coordinator Imbi Davidson. Gosper’s practice examines the intersection of art and magic, exploring themes of the occult through analogue photography and darkroom printing, and together they will discuss her current exhibition Temporal Collapse, on display at NRCG until 1 March. This event is free to attend, and bookings are not required.
On Saturday 28 February, exhibiting artist Jacqueline Scotcher will present a painting workshop titled Abstract Rhythms in Ignite Studios. Participants will be guided through abstract drawing and acrylic painting techniques to create small experimental works on canvas. Drawing inspiration from natural rhythms—such as tides, daybreak and the local hinterland landscape—the workshop invites participants to translate sensory experiences into paint. The session will begin with a guided tour of Scotcher’s exhibition Boundary Rider, on display at NRCG until 1 March. Places are limited and tickets can be purchased via the NRCG website.
In March, Brisbane-based multidisciplinary artist Eliza Adam will deliver a mixed media workshop titled Observing the Macro and Micro. Taking place on Saturday 14 March, the workshop will explore mark-making, repetition and layering using materials including gouache, oil pastels and other mixed media. Participants will create multimedia works on paper, examining how material processes influence form and movement. Adam’s exhibition A Light Hold is currently on display at NRCG until 1 March 2026. Tickets are limited and available through the NRCG website.
Join Northern Rivers-based academic and exhibiting artist Darren Bryant in April for Instant Zines! Self-publish Your Ideas - a one-day zine-making workshop. Participants will be guided through the process of creating and producing their own zines—an accessible, low-cost form of independent publishing—while sharing stories, ideas and artworks that matter to them. Tickets are limited and available via the NRCG website. Bryant’s exhibition The Time Traveller’s Manual will be on display at NRCG from 5 March to 26 April 2026.
