Healthy Waterways

Ballina Shire’s waterways are at the heart of our environment, lifestyle and community. From the Richmond River and its estuarine creeks to the upper catchments that feed them, healthy waterways support native wildlife, recreation, cultural values and a thriving local economy. Through the Healthy Waterways Program, Ballina Shire Council works with residents, landholders, community groups and partner organisations to improve water quality, restore riparian habitats, stabilise riverbanks and promote sustainable land management. Guided by a long-term vision, the program delivers practical actions across public and private land to protect and enhance our waterways for future generations.
