Weighbridge installation project
- Project value$4.3 million
- Project scheduleOctober 2026 - April 2027
Ballina Shire Council is making it quicker, safer and easier for the community to use the Ballina Resource Recovery Centre (RRC), with major upgrades to the facility’s Front of House area.
The $4.3 million project will deliver a second weighbridge, covered weighbridge roof structure, additional salvage store area and upgraded staff amenities. The centrepiece of the project is the new second weighbridge, which will help vehicles move through the facility more efficiently, reducing queues and wait times, particularly during busy periods.
The upgrades will also improve traffic flow and safety across the site, creating a more efficient facility that can better meet the needs of the community now and into the future.
Construction is expected to commence in October 2026 and be completed by April 2027, subject to weather and site conditions.
The Resource Recovery Centre will remain open throughout construction, although customers should expect some delays and changed onsite traffic conditions while the improvements are delivered. Customers are asked to allow additional time when visiting, take extra care and follow onsite signage and directions from staff.
The Salvage Shed will remain open and will not be affected by the works.
There may be some short-term inconvenience during construction, but the result will be a safer, faster and more user-friendly Resource Recovery Centre for the whole community.
