Community Recycling Centre (CRC)

Our Community Recycling Centre (CRC) is located at Ballina's Resource Recovery Centre and supports residents to drop off a range of common household hazardous wastes for FREE:

• Aerosols
• Computer, phones, TVs and accessories
• Electronic waste items 
• Fluoro globes and tubes
• Gas bottles and fire extinguishers
• Household, car and other light vehicle batteries (including lead acid and lithium ion batteries)
• Ink and printer cartridges
• Items with embedded batteries (like electric toothbrushes, e-scooters and bikes, light up toys, vacuum cleaners, and more)
• Motor oils and other oils
• Paint (oil and water based) - if you have multiple paint tins with small volumes left, simply pour them into the same tin for easy transport. Please ensure oil-based and water-based paints remain separated
• Smoke detectors
• X-rays

Only household-generated waste accepted, with a limit of 20kg or 20 litres per accepted waste type per customer per day. Please transport materials carefully. Dangerous goods and items other than those listed cannot be accepted.

Community Recycling Stations

All Community Recycling Stations will be removed on 31 August 2026. All items previously accepted at Community Recycling Stations are accepted for free, safe disposal at the Ballina Resource Recovery Centre (tip) at 167 Southern Cross Dr, Ballina. Alternate free drop off points are readily available throughout Ballina Shire.

• Household batteries – most supermarkets and Bunnings, search for the closest drop off site to you at bcycle.com.au
  • Alstonville closest drop off: Coles Alstonville
  • Ballina closest drop off: Aldi, Big W, Bunnings, Coles, The Good Guys, Woolworths Ballina Fair
  • Lennox Head closest drop off: Woolworths at Epiq
• Ink cartridges – Australia Post Ballina
  
  
• Mobile phones and accessories (chargers, small headphones, etc)- Mobile Muster is the national phone recycling program and free drop off locations include Woolworths, Optus, Vodafone and Telstra stores. Find your closest location on the website, as well as tips for removing your data easily.
• • Big W Ballina, Woolworths Ballina Fair, Ballina Optus store
• Eye glasses – Recycle (in good condition or broken) at Specsavers or check with your local optometrist. Usable reading glasses may be donated to op shops (ask first).
